The first day of the International Biennial International Trade Fair of the Electric, Electronic, and Lighting Industry unfolded with an agenda full of innovation and networking. Product launches, expert presentations, and business meetings set the tone for the day.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by officials, entrepreneurs, and industry representatives. Among them, Fernando Martín Blanco Muiño, Undersecretary of Consumer Protection and Fair Trade, stated: “This exhibition embodies the value of continuity. Sustaining an event like this for over twenty years is a collective achievement. Our goal is to simplify the regulatory framework—the State must support those who produce and generate wealth. We are changing the verification process, and we must do it together: it is a joint public-private effort.”

In turn, Fernando Gorbarán, President of Messe Frankfurt Argentina, said: “The setting changes, the audience renews, but what remains constant is the teamwork we have carried out with CADIEEL since 2003. This edition features 35% more exhibition space. Light + Building is the world’s leading trade fair for architecture and technology, and one of the most prominent global brands of Messe Frankfurt GmbH, with 15 events across three continents – Asia, America, and Europe. This exhibition is part of that network.”

He also thanked the presence of Iris Jeglitza-Moshage, Senior Vice President of Technology Fairs and Corporate Identity Director of Messe Frankfurt, who attended from the company’s headquarters in Germany.

Regarding the industry outlook, Gorbarán added: “We are aware of the current challenges faced by some sectors, and we continue to work towards recovery and growth, always staying attentive to the needs of the market and its key players.”

Meanwhile, José Tamborenea, President of CADIEEL, highlighted: “Our sector is strong, dynamic, and resilient, as demonstrated by the great turnout achieved at this 2025 edition of BIEL Light + Building Buenos Aires.”

He also addressed the industry's challenges to remain competitive under fair conditions and emphasized the need to redefine its strategic direction: “We need a tax policy that allows us to be competitive. Only then can we strengthen our production chain and reposition Argentina as an industrial reference in the region. The world is moving toward the protection of national industries. Behind every stand at this exhibition, behind every member of our Chamber, beats the heart of an Argentine industrialist.”

Throughout the day, various activities took place to strengthen the industry. Among them, the panel “Revolutionizing the Industry: Women Who Inspire, Transform, and Empower”, where female leaders shared their experiences and insights. Another highlight was “Smart Cities: A Vision of Intelligent Urban Development in Countries like Argentina,” presented by specialist Federico Salcedo, who analyzed the local context, opportunities, and challenges related to infrastructure and social inclusion. He proposed a model focused on equity, climate resilience, and the incorporation of AI and automation technologies.

One of the novelties of the 2025 edition is the Demonstration Area, under the slogan “Illuminate and Build.” The space invites visitors to experience innovation firsthand, featuring live demonstrations of machinery and tools, along with expert guidance. Another highlight is the LumiAr space, curated by Marcela Fibbiani and organized by 90+10, where nine Argentine lighting design companies showcase the country’s creativity and innovation. They will also offer the conference “Designing and Manufacturing Light in Argentina,” on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

In addition, within the framework of Electrician Installer Week, the Argentine Association of Residential, Industrial, and Commercial Electrical Installers (AAIERIC) presents a training space and the “Technical–Electrical Challenge,” where participants test their skills through practical exercises, safety drills, and assembly challenges, with prizes and special mentions for excellence in safety, speed, and technical knowledge.

Business meetings were also held throughout the day, in an area exclusively for exhibitors, supported by the Argentine Agency for Investment and International Trade, enhancing its scope and strategic value for companies looking to expand their business in the region. The goal: to foster new ties with international buyers and promote exports.

If you haven’t visited the event yet, there’s still time. Three full days of activities, conferences, and innovation remain ahead. This year, BIEL Light + Building Buenos Aires is held simultaneously with ExpoFerretera 2025, expanding the range of exhibitors, conferences, and business opportunities — more solutions in one place.
